Last night I was sitting in the bar with my friend R. and another man, a fracquaintance named C., and we were discussing dancing: whether or not we enjoyed it, and so on. C. said, "I couldn't dance to save my life." There was a little pause, and R. said, "Do you think anyone ever actually has had to dance to save their life?" For some reason, this struck both of us as so funny that for the next minute we were incapacitated with laughter. It was something to do with the vision of someone dancing in a life-saving manner. When I think of it again tonight I again find it hilarious, so I thought I'd preserve it here for eternity.
